Why ICE Detention Centers Bring Out Our Worst Instincts

It’s no secret now that conditions at the detention centers controlled by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) are appalling.

Some concerned citizens, corporate employees, and politicians are looking for ways to improve the situation, as they should. Ultimately, though, nothing can make these places “better” because they rise out of a dark yet strong place in human nature.

The downward spiral will escalate until we call on a lighter one.
